The SAMRO Foundation (NPC) is an independently registered not-for-profit company that manages the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and music education programmes of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) Group. The SAMRO Foundation has numerous stakeholders and through our Stakeholder Hub we build relationships with other arts organizations and help incubate their growing businesses. The foundation’s key projects include Concerts SA which was set up, in partnership with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to help stimulate the live music scene in South Africa, the SAMRO Overseas Scholarships Competition, and the SAMRO Music Archive. The above full-time position exists within the SAMRO Foundation. The position is to manage the projects of the SAMRO Stakeholder Hub, Business Accelerator, Media and PR, and to work with the stakeholders of the organization. The employee would be based at the SAMRO Foundation in Braamfontein. A negotiable remuneration package is offered commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate is one who has successfully completed a degree or equivalent experience in the music and/or arts administration with at least 3 years business incubation experience in the arts. The candidate will have an understanding of music development as well as events management; coupled with experience and understanding of the arts sector.
Experience in the following areas will be ideal:

  • Arts & Culture Management
  • Marketing and PR
  • Incubation of small creative enterprises
  • Legal: Business Compliance, Policy and Contracts
  • Networking and relationship building

The following will be required:

  • Meticulous administrative abilities
  • Excellent literacy skills including comprehensive reading, and writing and editing texts for various publications, proposals and reports
  • External partnership development
  • Public communications (Events, Media, Social Media etc…)
  • Overseeing workshops & presentations
  • Attention to detail
  • Integrity

The following would also be advantageous:

  • A positive self-motivated extroverted personality
  • Team ethic
  • Situational empathy

Knowledge of general office systems and basic word processing skills are vital, while some data processing knowledge would be helpful. A valid driver’s license with own vehicle is essential.
